Legacy recording of the week...

Every so often I'll happen across a really remarkable recording from the pre-digital age - I must confess I'm a bit nostalgic for the interpretive aspects of pianism pre-1970 or so, at least when it comes to Romantic and later repertoire.

Today I'm highlighting a live recording of Sviatoslav Richter from 1965 in Prague, performing Ravel's "Miroirs."  The voicing, energy and consistency of tempo combine to create a really memorable interpretation.  I love that the audience can't restrain themselves after the "Alborada..."
